What discounts do I get?


A Disabled Persons Railcard gives you, and one adult travelling with you, 1/3 off most adult rail fares for travel on the National Rail network.

 

What tickets can I get a Disabled Persons Railcard discount on?

  • Anytime and Anytime Day Single and Return tickets for travel in Standard and First Class

  • Off-Peak and Off-Peak Day Single and Return tickets for travel in Standard and First Class

  • Super Off-Peak and Super Off-Peak Day Single and Return tickets for travel in Standard and First Class

  • Advance Single tickets for travel in Standard and First Class

  • 10% discount off Caledonian Sleeper Anytime fares for adults.

  • London Off-Peak Day Travelcard Zones 1-6

  • Anytime Day Travelcard  when bought as part of your ticket to London from outside London Zones 1-9 (subject to a minimum fare of £17.00)

  • Oyster pay as you go single fares and daily caps on National Rail, London Underground and Docklands Light Railway services in London - see the Oyster pay as you go section for more details

  • PLUSBUS day tickets - unlimited bus travel at your origin / destination station on participating operators. Visit www.plusbus.info or your local staffed station for further details

  • All-Line Rail Rover 7 and 14-day tickets for travel in Standard and First Class

  • Some regional Rail Rover tickets

  • Some rail/sea journeys with Wightlink, Red Funnel Ferries and Stena Line

Please note:

- Some tickets may have conditions or restrictions that will apply, such as time restrictions for return travel.

- Not every ticket type is available for every journey that you may wish to make.

- Minimum fares apply to Anytime Day Travelcards at all times.

 

Disabled Persons Railcard discount on Oyster pay as you go in London

Disabled Persons Railcard holders can register their Railcard discount onto their Oyster card to get the following discounts: 

  • 1/3 off Oyster pay as you go single fares on National Rail, London Underground and Docklands Light Railway services

  • 1/3 off Oyster daily caps on National Rail, London Underground and Docklands Light Railway services

These discounts are for the Disabled Persons Railcard holder only.

Railcard discounts can be registered on an Oyster card at any London Underground station, as well as any London Overground or National Rail station ticket office that issues Oyster cards. 

PLEASE NOTE:

From 2 January 2015, the Disabled Persons Railcard discount was extended to Oyster peak pay as you go single fares and peak daily cap on National Rail, London Underground and DLR services. If an Oyster card has previously been loaded with the Railcard off-peak pay as you go discount, the Railcard holder will need to get the discount entitlement updated to benefit from the new discount.

Until 17 May 2015, as a special concession when a Disabled Persons Railcard holder is travelling on Oyster Pay as you go, one person accompanying the Railcard holder can buy a Child rate Off-Peak Day Travelcard Zones 1-6 (including stations in London Zones 7-9 if required) upon presentation of the Disabled Persons Railcard and Oyster card.

From 18 May 2015, Disabled Persons Railcard holders using Oyster should buy an Off-Peak Day Travelcard Zones 1-6 (including stations in London Zones 1-9 if required) for the accompanying person as the special concession above will be withdrawn.

The accompanying person must travel with the Railcard holder for the whole of the journey.

If the Disabled Persons Railcard holder is travelling on a Disabled Person's Freedom Pass, they cannot use their Disabled Persons Railcard to buy a discounted ticket for an accompanying person.

What tickets can’t I get a Railcard discount on?

Disabled Persons Railcard discounts don't apply to:

  • Season tickets (of any length), including Travelcard Season tickets

  • Eurostar tickets

  • Some Train Company specific promotional offers

  • Tickets for special excursions or Charter trains and some coach/bus links, including Railair services

  • London Underground and DLR paper tickets

 

Other discounts for people with disabilities
