Railcard Holder # 22 - Maryam Hashemi

As part of the ongoing celebrations of the 30th anniversary of the Disabled Persons Railcard we're delighted to present testimonial number 22, from Maryam Hasemi:

I have had my Railcard for one year; previously I had the 16-25 Railcard as I did not know Disabled Persons Railcards were available.

I mostly use it to commute once or twice every month, sometimes I use it to go and see friends in different cities or just for exploring when the weather is nice, especially at the weekends.

There are many advantages to having the Disabled Railcard, for one you are able to take a carer or friend with you at the same discounted rate, this makes it less hassle when thinking about how you’re going to travel as you already have someone there who can help and you don’t spend as much to have that someone with you. It is slightly cheaper to buy than the 16-25 Railcard taking into account that sometimes disabled travellers need to budget more as they may need to factor in taxis or additional help that other Railcard holders would not normally need to think about.

I enjoy using my Railcard with a friend to explore the countryside and get away from the bigger cities to relax, see sights and go to beaches when we get that rare glimpse of the sun! You can also use it as proof of disability at some attractions where discounted rates or free carer places may be available.
